extraordinary kids...

The coolest thing is happening in our first grade Sunday School class. Our first graders are learning what it means to be an extraordinary follower of Jesus. They are learning all about service and helping others and they get the chance every week to come back and tell ways they served, obeyed and showed love that week. I stopped in to that class this past Sunday to see what they kids were up to and they were all making coupons for their parents of things they would do to be helpful. I had such fun talking to them and hearing how they were going to help set the table or wash the dishes or how they were going to clean their room or get the mail (that's my favorite thing to do-get the mail. You never know what fun bit of mail might show up in the midst of the bills and junk :).
One of the boys who came that day decided to be helpful and set-up the chairs around the tables all by himself without being asked-now that's being helpful and showing love! I think what makes me so excited about what's happening in that class is that we are beginning to see our vision come to life. That vision is: "We want to see kids become passionate followers of Jesus who: worship God, read his Word, Do His Work, SHOW LOVE and share Him with others". Our first graders are doing Jesus' work and showing love-how cool is that??!!
